Australia has conducted the world’s largest study of ART (Assisted Reproductive Technologies) conceived adults. Staff from the University of Melbourne and Monash University interviewed 656 mothers and 547 of their adult children. Results indicate the ART offspring “have grown into healthy young adults with a quality of life and educational achievement comparable to those of non- ART conceived peers” states lead researcher Professor Jane Halliday.
This is reassuring news for families of ART babies or those contemplating IVF assistance. ART treatment accounts for one in 25 babies born in Australia.
