In April 2018 the Commonwealth Games were held on the Gold Coast and because Dr Rod didn’t already have enough to do – he offered his services as a Medical First Responder. This involved several training events, uniform fittings (see the stylish photo attached) and long shifts at the main stadium for events. Though there wasn’t much call on his medical services he loved meeting other volunteers and spectators from all over the globe. The real highlight was watching Kurt Fearnley the Paralympian compete and finish second in the 1500m wheelchair race.
